Laurie Parsons became known as an artist in the end of the 1980s as a result of her mixed-media sculptures of natural and waste materials. Since 1989, Laurie Parsons has asked the galleries she works with not to sell her work. During her exhibition at Forum Kunst Rottweil in 1991, she lived in the exhibition rooms of the museum for seven weeks, and the inhabitants of the city were invited to visit and to talk with her. In 1994, the artist withdrew from the art world completely.
