Vertical Earth Kilometer, 1977. 1st | B, outdoor | For documenta 6, Walter de Maria carried out a vertical drilling to a depth of 1000 m at the Friedrichsplatz in Kassel and filled the hole with interlocked, solid brass rods of 5 cm in diameter. The vertical earth kilometer is invisible except for the top end of the last brass rod, which is fitted with a square cover plate. | |
