I cost $450,000,001.00, 2018 2nd | A | Notice by the artist: "Take the most expensive painting ever sold and add one Dollar to its price. What you get is the price of an even more expensive painting. Now, that we got the price, who does the painting? I do! I do the the painting - you do the buying. Here's how it works: Whenever a painting gets sold for a new record breaking price, I will put up for sale a new "I cost [...]" painting for that very price - plus one US-Dollar. The newly calculated price is merged with the paintings name, so it reads: "I cost $450,000,001.00" (current "I cost [...]" painting for sale, based on Leonardo Da Vinci's "Salvato Mundi" sold for $450'000'000.00). Material: I paint on A4-sized photocopy paper (random brand). Weight is 80g/m2, but may vary +/- 100%. I always go for -100%. So it's going to be a paper of zero weight. Obviously I can't paint onto this. So I won't. This means: the final painting only consists of its name - and that fact that you are paying for it. It's going to be a bank-transfer-only-painting. But - and this is the important part - it's going to be the most expensive painting ever sold (in case of purchase). And you're going to be the proud owner of it (if you're going to buy it). I can't guarantee that you'll be the proud owner of the most expensive painting ever sold for ever. Actually, the only thing I can guarantee, is, that it's going to be the most expensive painting ever sold while you're buying it. Keep in mind, that the time span of buying (transferring money) isn't long at all. We're talking about something like zero seconds. But then again: I don't expect to sell an "I cost [...]" painting every day. So, the record will probably last for some time, although I'll try my best to disappoint you: After purchase, there will be a new "I cost [...]" painting for sale, which in turn, is going to be even more expensive. This story is not meant to end. Let's recap: You're about to buy a painting which consist of its name only. You're getting nothing in return except the name of the painting (which you know already). I'm going to send you a bill (PDF, via email), you pay, I confirm your payment - that's it. Just to make sure: - No weight - No size - No mass/matter, what so ever - It's just the name (and its remarkable price, of course) Still want to see something? Exhibited in the No Show Museum is the Javascript function, which generates the "I cost [...]" painting, based on the price of the current most expensive painting ever sold. Contact me at info@marcobaumgartner.com if you're interested in buying this painting. Please contact me also, if you hear of some new "most expensive painting ever sold", so I can adjust my pricing. Thanks." | |
